The housing crash of 2008 left a lot of people unable to pay their mortgages. Banks were foreclosing left and right. It was an awful situation made worse by the fact that the economy was down and unemployment was high.
What most people don’t know is that about 4 million homes were wrongfully foreclosed. That means 4 million families were forced to prove to the bank that they had paid for their homes and did not deserve to have them taken away.
This happened to Warren and Maureen Nyerges, but instead of getting angry, they got even. Warren and Maureen paid cash for their home and had no mortgage. However, Bank of America still sent them a foreclosure notice in 2010. After battling with the bank in court, Warren and Maureen won, and the court ordered Bank of America to pay $2000 to cover their legal fees.
Not surprisingly, Bank of America didn’t pay, and would not respond to their lawyer’s phone calls. What they did next will have most of you cheering from your computer and phone screens!
